Advantages of High Ceiling in a House

Visit Our Website

High ceiling is one of the high end features most people will like to have in their homes. It creates an immediate sense of space, lighting and luxury. However some people may prefer a smaller cozier space so high ceiling may not appeal to them.

What could be considered as high ceiling is any living space with height measuring more than 9feet. Below are some advantages of having a building with high ceiling;

1.      It can make the living space look larger than it really is. The illusion of a bigger space brings comfort and ease out the feeling of claustrophobic.

2.      It brings in lots of natural light from the extra tall windows which are known to have mental and physical health benefits. Natural lighting reduces use of electrical bulbs during the day hence saves you some money on your utility bills.

3.      High ceiling gives you the space for beautiful interior wall designs like tall frames or multiple frame pattern arrangement.  Painting an accent wall can give the space a very nice contrast and make it stand out.

4.      Tall windows allow you to create several curtain designs that will show the beauty and functionality of the living space. Tall curtains add drama to your space and make a statement that cannot be ignored.

5.      High ceiling can give your ornate light fixture a drop that makes your living space more unique and beautiful.

6.      It brings natural cooling effect as the warm air rises to the extra space above. So the lower living space will stay cooler during the day and night. This means you can save lots of money with less usage of air conditioners.

7.      High ceiling in the kitchen will create room for more cabinets to increase storage space while an extra tall wardrobe in the rooms will reveal more beautiful designs and storage space.

8.      The aesthetics appeal of high ceiling increases home value and make it easier to resale.

9.      Finally, high ceiling leaves an everlasting impression on the faces of your visitors.

The downside to having a house with high ceiling are higher cost of building it, decorating it and high utility cost to cool or heat up the voluminous space depending on your location and season of the year. Also basic maintenance like changing bulbs and cleaning cobwebs may become more strenuous.
